LIDW 2024: How can investment protection contribute to the energy transition?

The energy transition is one of the most important global challenges of our lifetimes. But how can investment protection contribute to meeting energy transition goals? Join us on 6 June 2024 in our London offices to explore the role of investment protection now and in the future in relation to different areas of the energy sector, including mining, renewable energy, and fossil fuel investments; and look at how investment protection interacts with key issues such as the right to regulate, environmental regulation, and resource nationalism.

Hogan Lovells and Twenty Essex are delighted to jointly invite you to their event at London International Disputes Week (LIDW) 2024, on Thursday 6 June.

Together, we will explore the role of investment protection now and in the future in contributing to the energy transition, with particular reference to a full spectrum of energy-related investments. Additionally, we will examine how the energy transition may amplify key issues before international tribunals, such as the right to regulate, environmental regulation, and resource nationalism, and how they may be dealt with by tribunals in the race to net zero.

The panel will be made up of Hogan Lovells partner Markus Burgstaller and senior associate Scott Macpherson, Twenty Essex barristers Lord Verdirame KC and Kate Parlett, as well as investment manager Camilla Godman from Omni Bridgeway, and assistant professor Dr Veronika Korom from ESSEC Business School.
